Senior Claims Adjuster Specialty x2

Provides technical claims handling within agreed authority levels as well as technical expertise to junior adjuster referrals. Works within Antares Global policy and procedures ensuring full compliance with external and internal KPIs. Monitors wider account performance through regular oversight and data analysis (as required). Supports key stakeholders in the business, including the underwriters and actuaries in evaluating the business from the perspective of reserving and pricing. Provides claims management support to cedants and brokers. Occasional travel and participation in client or market meetings may also be required.

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Strong LOB-specific claim knowledge
  • Knowledge of the respective claims environment (as applicable)
  • Technical knowledge – legal principles, policy wordings, (re)insurance market practice.
  • Preference for (re)insurance qualifications in progress (e.g. ACII or equivalent)

Skills and Demonstrated Experience

  • Experienced in adjusting claims independently within own authority level.
  • As applicable, working knowledge of relevant (re)insurance market systems (e.g. ECF / CLASS or equivalent).
  • Able to communicate confidently internal and external and experienced in working together with key stakeholders in the business such as underwriters, actuaries, in-house legal and/or the outwards reinsurance team.
  • Experience of audit and TPA oversight preferred.
  • Supports Line Manager and junior Claims Adjusters on the team.
  • Takes responsibility and acts proactively. Decision maker with a healthy pragmatic approach. A good claims leader on large market losses.
  • Strong organisational skills, good records management and report writing.
  • Good analytical skills/attention to detail, data-focussed.
  • Adherence to the Antares Global Claims Manual and applicable regulatory/minimum standards Ability to work in a flexible team environment.
  • Maintains continuous professional development through attendance at market seminars/ courses.

Accountabilities

  • Prompt and accurate claims handling in full compliance with external and internal minimum standards, policies and procedures
  • Maintains high productivity level to comply with team, group and audit standards
  • Handles claims within authority and seeks and maintains necessary approval from line manager for handling claims above authority
  • Understands that claims is the key concern for our customers and therefore takes responsibility to ensure that we maintain a pro-active and quality claims service for our customers through the lifecycle of a claim
  • Review, assess and control claim referrals on non London Market direct business, raise further questions on bordereau reported claims and agree case reserves and payments where appropriate.
  • Leads discussions, works effectively and collaboratively with others, including the Claims Team and and/or Antares Global colleagues as a whole
  • Ensure claims reserves, payments and cash calls are booked in the system in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Effective knowledge and use of internal and Market systems – ensuring full compliance with ECF policy and procedures (as applicable)
  • Participate in and manage onsite claims audits (for our business) and offsite claims audits (for TPAs)
  • Assists the Claims Counsel in the maintenance the Antares Global “Significant Claims and Litigation Log”
  • Technically competent to handle all chosen classes of business claims
  • Contributes and, where necessary, lead discussions and investigative processes, including reporting to the Large Loss Group on significant claims and losses (as and when required)
  • Effective liaison with underwriters, actuaries, finance, (re) insurance managers and in-house lawyers regarding operational administration, account developments, large loss reporting, legal, economic and market changes.
  • Regular and positive feedback from internal and external customers. Influences others to the benefit of Antares Global.
  • Maintains and develops good working relationships with key external stakeholders, such as brokers and other claims adjusters in the market
  • Exploits information systems and utilises the experience of other team members
  • Provide technical expertise and support to junior adjusters
  • Ensure all internal controls, for which you have responsibility, are fulfilled
  • Provides a positive quality, level and range of personal contribution to pursuing RI recoveries

  • Working alongside Compliance and Underwriting ensuring product reviews are performed in a timely manner with information being shared with the brokers/coverholder.
  • Ensuring complaints are notified to compliance in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring complaints are handled appropriately giving due consideration to the interest of the customers and adhering to all regulatory deadlines.
  • Presenting suitable MI to Boards/Committee’s which demonstrates good customer outcomes being delivered, making improvements, and learning from shortcomings if any and building suitable controls that mitigate address poor outcomes.
