Actuarial Pricing Analyst

Our Actuarial team are looking to hire an Actuarial Pricing Analyst.

This role is within the commercial insurance team, much of which is written through our Lloyd’s Syndicate.  It is a highly visible role which offers opportunities to build and maintain pricing models on the hX Renew platform, assess portfolio performance and technically price individual risks across several product areas including Professional Liability, Marine, Property and Energy.  The commercial insurance team also works closely with the treaty reinsurance team to develop our pricing capability and tools.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • General insurance actuarial experience
  • Experience and knowledge of pricing business and building models in commercial insurance product lines
  • Studying towards Actuarial qualification
  • London/Lloyd’s market experience desirable
  • 2:1 or higher in a numerate degree
  • Advanced Excel
  • Experience in data handling. SQL desirable
  • Experience using programming languages. Python, VBA and R desirable
  • Experience using hX Renew desirable
  • Strong communication skills and experience of working with underwriters or other key stakeholders of your work
  • Demonstrated time management and organisational skills
  • Solution orientated and drives improvements
  • An ambitious nature with a curiosity to learn new technologies

Day to Day duties include:

  • Contribute to and take responsibility for the building, maintenance and development of pricing and rating tools
  • Develop strong working relationships with underwriting teams to help drive the use of technical pricing in underwriting decision making
  • Production of case pricing as an essential support for Underwriters
  • Undertake peer reviews of pricing analysis performed by underwriters and pricing analysts
  • Assist with the development and implementation of pricing controls and systems of governance, focusing on enhancing quality and quantity of pricing data capture
  • Provide training and guidance on pricing and rate change calculations to underwriters; develop an understanding of class specific technical queries
  • Production and review of management information reports
  • Development and maintenance of the pricing database (SQL) as a centralised assumptions repository
  • Support the Head of Commercial/Lloyd’s Pricing in ensuring consistency of assumptions across the department
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary projects
  • Assist with the training and development of Actuarial students in pricing techniques
