Senior Catastrophe Modeller

Our Catastrophe Pricing & Analytics team are looking to hire a Senior Catastrophe Modeller. This role will cover managing the treaty modelling and portfolio outputs, close interaction with underwriters and be the point of contact for modelling requests, managing junior modellers and external contractors.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor or Master‘s degree in a quantitative subject, natural sciences or engineering
  • ACII (or equivalent)
  • AIR Touchstone, proficient user with expert knowledge of some areas of the cat model. Proficient knowledge of all areas of the cat model.
  • SQL, proficient understanding, able to write dynamic SQL code
  • Coding (e.g. VBA, R, Python), ability to design new tools and processes, adjust and modify existing tools.
  • Other software/tools: excellent grasp of workings and methodology (level of understanding relevant to amount of usage)
  • Good understanding of the general insurance market
  • Detailed knowledge of end to end workflow for all classes of business underwritten by QIC Global entities
  • Good understanding of how CPA department fits into the overall business model
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Team player, communicates ideas, issues and solutions
  • Effective communicator, both verbal and written
  • Ability to share knowledge, and explain complex modelling concepts both inside and outside the team

Day to Day duties include:

  • Deliver all business as usual catastrophe modelling
  • Deliver the monthly and quarterly portfolio rollups
  • Event response analysis
  • Support the model upgrade process
  • Delivery of information, analysis, or reports for ad-hoc or regulatory requests
  • Contribute to projects, such as modelling assumptions, internal tools, processes and view of risk
  • Support Assistant/Cat Modellers
